What does K*I*S*S* stand for?
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!
I hope that doesn’t offend you! But that’s the meaning of K*I*S*S*! Whenever you have a choice, keep things simple! This applies to exercise as well as to many other things in life. Often we get so hung up with details that we forget where we’re going. Do you remember the old saying, “You can’t see the forest because of the trees?” Look at the big picture…

The Big Picture --- at least for exercise!
There are three types of exercise and, if you want to be physically fit, you have to pay attention to all three of them. Here they are:
-
You can perform a given movement a great number of times --- like walking or running for an extended time period. This type of exercise builds endurance.
-
You can move or lift something, possibly your own bodyweight, a limited number of times. This type of exercise builds strength.
-
You can stretch, bend, or twist your body to its limit in various directions. This type of exercise builds flexibility.
So, you need a fitness program that includes the three types of exercise --- aerobic, strength, and flexibility --- and that has a well-balanced strength building routine. This is the big picture. And that’s all there is to it…
There seems to be the greatest confusion with strength building exercises. Fortunately, designing a well-balanced strength routine is easy as there are only five movements that are the basis of just about all the exersises you can come up with. Here they are:

How does the K*I*S*S* Fitness Program stack up?
Perfectly! The K*I*S*S* Fitness Program is built around two endurance exercises and five strength exercises (that include the five basic movements we just talked about). The endurance exercises are walking and running (you can use other exercises if you prefer). The strength exercises are well-known calisthenics with a few interesting changes added so that almost anyone can do them. The strength exercises are designed so they also involve some stretching, bending, and twisting. So, all three kinds of exercise --- endurance, strength, and flexibility --- are included in the Program.
Some of the great things about the K*I*S*S* Fitness Program are:
-
Almost anyone can do it: athlete or beginner, young or old, women or men.
-
It’s progressive. You can start out as easy as you want and gradually build up to a very high level of fitness.
-
You can progress at your own pace. There is no rush at all.
-
It requires almost no equipment.
-
It can even be a lot of fun!
